TRAVISIONS 2018 RESULTS
The 2018 Young Researcher Competition awarded prize money sponsored by industry (alice, ERTRAC, Meyer Werft, Shift2Rail, UITP) to students from all over Europe. 169 students from 48 different EU universities have participated in the TRAVISIONS 2018 Young Researcher Competition, submitting innovative ideas in the field of transport for road, rail and waterborne modes.
The competition targeted students at universities and technical institutes pursuing bachelor and higher degrees, as well as early career PhD researchers. Initially, participants were invited to submit an abstract under one of the TRA 2018 conference topics. All participants were invited to register their ideas and submit a short abstract. They had a three-month period to further develop their proposal into a final project followin a very clear template. This was followed by an Evaluation of Ideas period, divided into two steps - a first remote evaluation by two evaluators and a second step in which the shortlisted ideas (10 per mode) were evaluated by a judging panel during the Shortlisting Event in which the three top ideas per mode (road, rail, waterborne and cross modality) were identified.
Winners had the unique opportunity to take part in a prestigious award ceremony at the 2018 Transport Research Arena (TRA) in Vienna, 16th-19th April 2018.
